Our Principles
We are guided by eight principles that grow directly from this understanding of our roots:
Heritage Preservation — We exist to preserve, celebrate, and transmit the history, culture, traditions, and ancestral contributions of Northwestern European peoples of Celtic and Germanic descent.
Ancestral Roots — We ground our identity in our origins, symbolized by Ask and Embla, recognizing that connection to our roots gives purpose and direction.
Heroic Ideals — We uphold the virtues of courage, loyalty, honor, and excellence, and believe that is the source of true strength.
Wisdom and Restraint — We value self-mastery, deliberate action, and the wisdom to temper power with responsibility.
Family as Anchor — We see family and kinship as the essential foundation that sustains identity, provides stability, and carries our people through time.
Legacy and Renewal — We view ourselves as stewards of a living inheritance and commit to renewing and strengthening our heritage so that future generations may walk forward with pride and clarity.
Pride and Unity — We foster a proud and unifying connection to our shared Northwestern European heritage, rejecting division in favor of gratitude and collective strength.
Education and Action — We put these principles into practice through education, cultural fellowship, and purposeful work that connects our people to their past and prepares them for the future.
This is the work of the Ash and Elm Society: to remember that from which we came, to honor the people who carried that inheritance forward, and to strengthen it for those who will follow.
